A breakfast delight!!
Fox News asked me to recommend something that would replace the normal pastries and bagels in the morning and at the same time satisfy the sweet tooth in all of us. I did just that! This will fill you up, give you a lot of protein and the best kind of sugar your body needs – the kind that is easy for the body to use, natural!
Maggie says this kind of start in the morning becomes addictive; the good kind of addiction. You never get bored with it. If you think you are, just swap out the fruit; strawberries one day and raspberries the next or any combination of fruits of your choice. Anyone with a weight problem will benefit greatly from this food choice. First, you don’t skip breakfast as you need a kick-start in the AM and this gives it to you with under 400 calories! This breakfast plays tricks with the eyes and the mind, especially if you are a little overweight. Even though you are using small volumes of fruit, it looks more filling than it is; it tastes a lot richer than it is and these two things satisfy the sweet craving everyone gets and prevents the ‘morning muffin rush’. There is more fiber in the fruit and that makes us feel fuller. In addition, the blueberries give you the anti-oxidants you need, the bananas the potassium and the cinnamon does a whole bunch for you besides tasting good. On to that goodie fact “It doesn’t have to taste bad to be good”. This is a sweet start to the day, so when you crave that donut, or put sugar on your cereal and, STOP, STOP.
What you will need
Ingredients
- 2 gluten-free crackers
- Raw Organic Honey
- Unsalted Raw Almond Butter (creamy or crunchy, your choice and it’s best bought at Trader Joe’s)
- Fruit, your choice, organic if you can get it (Apples, Raspberries, Blueberries, Strawberries, etc.)
- Cinnamon.
NOTE: non-organic is ok if the skin is thicker. Thin skinned fruit and veggies are best organically grown.
Gluten- free crackers can be found in any health food store or upscale grocery store. I use two (2), spread a tablespoon or two of raw almond butter, some honey and then lightly sprinkle on some cinnamon. Slice some of the fruit mentioned above and arrange anyway you wish. Then, take a bite of delightful heaven.
This meal should provide you with enough protein, natural sugars, and antioxidants to get you through your morning workout until lunch. Hopefully, this helps get rid of the unhealthy choices. Enjoy and if you have any questions, email me at Maggie@fitnessbymaggie.com or call me @ 805-443-1329.
