My name is Nazila Nouri and here is my story working with Maggie:
I began working with Maggie in December of 2017 when I went to her seeking help for my extremely high weight, extreme food addiction, and my anxiety and depression. By the time I had begun working with her, I had reached 305 pounds and had isolated myself to just being in my room away from the world and was essentially eating myself to death. I started working with her begrudgingly and had little hope that my weight would go down and that I would be able to live a happy and fulfilling life because I had tried so many other ways, but nothing succeeded. However, almost from the very beginning, Maggie and I connected in a way that I have never felt with any other person. She was not just another trainer that you hire to lose weight, but she became a vital part of my life and served as someone who not only helped me with my food and weight, but also with deep psychological issues that I was suppressing. Every day, we would work together and accomplish a goal and talk about life problems, and for the first time in my life, I felt comfortable talking to someone about my deepest and darkest issues. Through her wisdom and the healing power of nature, we began a very difficult journey which ultimately led me to lose 160 pounds in 12 months and gain insight into my deeper issues and how to tackle my food addiction and dysfunctional coping mechanisms in healthier ways. Working with Maggie showed me how much strength, discipline, patience, and diligence it takes to go hiking with her, to talk about my issues and solve them, and to set a goal and have the perseverance and discipline to achieve it. She has helped me so much in recognizing that I have an addiction to food and that I need to tackle it in a healthy and mindful way. We worked together on the physical aspect of my weight loss through daily hikes and climbs, on the nutritional aspects of my weight loss where Maggie set up the perfect food plan that was tailored to my needs, and the psychological aspect of my weight loss where we talked about life issues daily and instead of me going and eating my frustrations and fears, I talked about them and solved them. Maggie stressed how much my weight loss had 3 parts: the physical, mental, and spiritual. We worked on tackling all three parts daily and that is why I was able to succeed. The weight loss not only made me feel more confident about myself, but it allowed me to succeed in school and career because I did not isolate myself to a room and do nothing, but I was able to apply the tools I had learned with Maggie and that helped me succeed in all areas of my life. Maggie’s wisdom and guidance are priceless, and I am so grateful that I have had the honor of working with her and for her giving me another chance at life. Thank You Maggie
